Katie wasn’t planning on practicing law after graduating with honours in 2011 but quickly found that practicing law in Southland was the ideal career.
“Business in Southland is predominantly about the people behind the business. I enjoy getting to know those people while giving them practical advice,” she says.
Katie is a member of the commercial team and specialises in contract, company and energy law. She regularly advises corporate entities in the energy and forestry industries, both of which provide interesting and varied challenges.
“I am passionate about working with local corporates that are involved in key primary sector industries, as they play a big role in Southland’s contribution to the national economy.”
Katie is also passionate about locals contributing to the Southland community. She has extensive experience advising small to medium businesses on matters such as commercial leases, franchise arrangements and business conveyancing. Katie has also assisted several groups with the establishment and maintenance of charitable trusts such as the Food Rescue Trust, the Te Anau Community Events Charitable Trust and the Hollyford Conservation Trust.
“Assisting local heroes and watching them succeed in what they do is very rewarding,” Katie says.
Outside of work Katie likes creating masterpieces in the kitchen and bending it like Beckham on the soccer field.
