A Partner of AWS Legal, Norman has extensive knowledge in all aspects of the law, but leads the Corporate Team predominantly in the areas of development, property, company law, business acquisitions, trusts and forestry.
“I enjoy working with the client to achieve its objectives,” Norman says.
“Each deal is different; no one client or their objectives are the same, that’s why it’s interesting.”
Since joining AWS Legal in 1983, and making Partner just three years later, Norman has established a significant practice catering for clients throughout the South Island.
He travels to AWS Legal’s Christchurch office weekly, as well as working with clients in Invercargill and throughout Southland and the South Island.
“As my clients’ business activities have increased, so has my involvement,” he says.
The firm’s Southland base was an advantage in every respect.
“Doing business from Southland gives you a lot more credibility – you become well-known and it becomes easier to do the deals that you do.”
Norman served as an Invercargill City Councillor for 15 years and as a Director and Chairman of Invercargill City Holdings Limited. Norman holds many other Directorships for clients and his legal background and experience has helped clients at a Corporate and Governance level.
Away from work, Norman enjoys family time, skiing, gyming, mountain biking and relaxing in Central Otago.
